The IKEA Residency, a recurring anti-capitalist guerrilla art project and artist residency was started in 2023 by two local LA writers/artists, Mary Boo Anderson and Zoë Blair-Schlagenhauf. The residency pairs up two artists who are strangers for open-ended creative collaboration
For our collaboration, Ryan and I created Found Poetry of IKEA, a chapbook combining found visual poems, photos of art installations we did live in IKEA without permission, and an original IKEA-themed crossword. In addition to the aforementioned subversive goals of the residency, our project in particular was focusing on finding the humor, joy and possibility for connection in creative collaboration as a salve against an increasingly corporate/oligarchic Western world.
